Dr. Andrea Gilstrap graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.
Dr. Gilstrap grew up in upstate New York and attended Binghamton University for her undergraduate education. She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 and then completed an internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. She then made her way south and has been part of the Hillcrest Animal Hospital team since 2015.
Dr. Gilstrap’s special interests include internal medicine, feline medicine, and emergency care. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is the long-term relationships she builds with clients and their pets. She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families and being a consistent source of support and guidance throughout their pets’ lives. She especially loves her feline patients, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and French Bulldogs, a breed that holds a special place in her heart after having one of her own.
Outside of work, Dr. Gilstrap enjoys photography, embroidery, tap dancing, and crafting. She lives with her husband, their two daughters, and three cats: two black cats named Bean and Smokey and a giant Maine Coon named Henry.
